In recent years, TikTok Shop, with its unique “content + business” closed ecosystem, is setting in motion a wave of change in the global electricity sector. This trend is particularly evident in Singapore. According to the latest data, the Singapore platform TikTok Shop has registered a 90 per cent increase in sales over the same period, while local brand sales have increased by 58 per cent, with fashion and cosmetics becoming the main force of growth.

TikTok Shop fashion and vendor manager Leon Koh noted that the platform’s success stems from its innovative concept of “3C”: Content marketing, user connection and conversion. Through short video, live broadcasts and the application of seamless integration of in-house shops, TikTok Shop has built a closed ecosystem from discovery to instant purchase. This model allows consumers to be naturally attracted to commodity referrals when browsing out their entertainment and achieves a “watch-and-buy” immersion experience.
The data show that TikTok users are 1 to 1.2 times more likely to share fashion content than others, and that one third of users will purchase it directly when they see a fashion item. This high conversion rate reflects a significant increase in consumer confidence in the inside of TikTok Shop.

The strong performance of fashion and cosmetics became the highlight of the TikTok Shop market in Singapore. Whether it is a fashionable costume, adornment or skin-protective makeup, these items attract a large number of consumers through visual displays on short video and live broadcasts. Platform data show that women users are particularly active, with an average of 9.4 hours per week to view content on TikTok, showing more efficient modes of interaction than social media (16.75 hours) and television (23 hours).
TikTok Shop ‘ s ecosystem offers unprecedented opportunities for SMEs. Through video shopping, live broadcasting and individualized recommendations, small sellers are able to reach out directly to target audiences, build community interaction and rapidly increase brand visibility. For example, local fashion brands have successfully attracted the attention of young consumers by displaying new products live, combining coupons and time-limited discounts. Koh stated that TikTok Shop was committed to creating a level playing field for small and medium-sized brands, allowing small-scale vendors to compete with large brands through algorithms and content-driven marketing strategies.

The rise of TikTok Shop is redefining the pattern of electricity suppliers in Singapore and even in South-East Asia. TikTok Shop creates a unique user experience through a content-driven business model that integrates entertainment seamlessly with shopping as compared to traditional electric power platforms. The platform provides easy access not only to consumers but also to brands and sellers as well as cost-effective marketing tools.
